The Bridges Group has designed many river bridges including both one-off structures and “families” of bridges on major roads projects, most recently on the M3 and M6 PPP road schemes in Ireland.  Roughan & O’Donovan was engaged by the PPP consortia as specialist bridge designer on these schemes because of our ability to design elegant yet highly cost-effective structures.

Our strengths in geotechnical engineering, foundation design and environmental planning add to our capabilities and we provide a full design service from feasibility stage, through the planning process, preliminary and detailed design and construction supervision.

Roughan & O’Donovan also has considerable expertise in the design of replacement bridge solutions, particularly for stone arch structures common throughout Europe.  Through the use of modern construction technology and techniques and adherence to the latest design standards, we are able to realise structures that echo the local history and heritage in their form and finish.
