The A2 Shore Road to Greenisland scheme recently achieved CEEQUAL's highest award in recognition of its significant contribution to improving the sustainability of the community it serves.

The scheme comprises 1.9km of on line dual widening and 1.6km of new all-purpose carriageway between Jordanstown Road and Troopers Lane in Carrickfergus.

It forms part of the strategic road network which aims to deliver a more efficient, safer and sustainable transport network, supporting long-term prosperity in the region.

The award recognises the careful consideration given by the project team, including Transport NI, Graham Construction, and Roughan & O'Donovan, to minimising the impacts of the scheme on the environment and the local community, and maximising opportunities for improvements.

In accepting the award, Marc Jones, Roughan & O'Donovan's project director for the scheme, commented:

The award is particularly special for Roughan & O'Donovan as this was our first major road scheme in Northern Ireland, and our first design and build with Graham Construction.
