Roles

Roughan and O'Donovan is seeking to fill the following roles:

  • Civil engineers with 3 to 7 years' post-qualification experience in the civil engineering sector
  • Civil engineers with 8 to 15 years' post-qualification experience in the civil engineering sector
  • Technicians (Civil) with 0 to 7 years' post-qualification experience in the civil engineering sector

About Roughan & O'Donovan

Roughan and O'Donovan is a leading civil, environmental and structural engineering consultancy.  We provide a fully-integrated engineering design service and employ a multi-disciplinary team of more than 180 people. 

Candidate requirements

  • Engineers with a minimum of level 8 honours degree in civil engineering
  • Technicians with a minimum of an appropriate level 6 higher certificate or 3 years' relevant experience
  • Fluent/highly proficient in spoken and written English
  • Flexible, motivated and focused
  • Strong technical knowledge and engineering skills
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to produce quality design outputs

Desirable skills and knowledge

Engineers

  • Direct experience in design of transportation projects
  • Excellent report writing and verbal communication skills
  • Working knowledge of design standards including DMRB, TII Publications, DMURS, National Cycle Manual, etc.
  • Working knowledge of 3D roads design software, such as MX, Civil 3D and OpenRoads
  • Aptitude for problem solving
  • Experience working in a multi-disciplinary environment with tight deadlines
  • Experience working closely with clients and stakeholders
  • Chartered engineer or working towards chartered status with a recognised professional body

Technicians

  • Keen to learn and develop
  • Good knowledge of AutoCAD, Civil 3D, BIM and software interoperability
