Dollymount Promenade & Flood Protection Project
An Bord Pleanála today gave Planning Approval for the Dollymount Promenade & Flood Protection Project. ROD undertook the Feasiblilty Study, Preliminary Design, Detailed Design and prepared the Environmental Impact Statement and Appropriate Assessment for this 1.9km section of the Sutton to Sandycove (S2S) Cycleway. This innovative design will complete a continuous 8km section of cycleway around North Dublin Bay whilst providing new flood protection measures for the residents in this area. The project is located in one of the most ecologically protected sites in Ireland, as is reflected in its designation as a proposed Natural Heritage Area (pNHA), Special Area of Conservation (SAC), Special Protection Area (SPA), RAMSAR site and a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve.  Planning approval was achieved without the requirement for an Oral Hearing.

The Dubs team comprising staff born in Dublin (but now generally residing in Wicklow, Kildare, Meath etc) beat the ROW selection by the odd goal in about 40. No one was really counting the score – particularly not the 2 Dublin-born referees! The match was all in a good cause and staff contributed almost €1,000 to Barnardos and the Irish Cancer Society.
