The Roughan & O’Donovan Bridges Group is the largest bridge design team in Ireland and are widely acknowledged as the leading bridge designers in the country. Their skills in designing landmark cost-effective structures have attracted the attention of international clients and progressively more of the Bridges Group commissions are for international projects.

Notable Irish projects include award-winning cable-stayed structures such as the Boyne Bridge near Drogheda and the William J Dargan Bridge in Dublin. Other completed signature bridges include the James Joyce and Samuel Beckett bridges across the Liffey River in Central Dublin, where we worked as local consultant for the Spanish architect Santiago Calatrava.

ROD has also acted as the specialist bridge designer for the feature bridges on the M3 PPP and M6 PPP in Ireland for PPP consortia. The Bridges Group has provided design services for cable-stayed, incremental launch, balanced cantilever, Extrados, stressed ribbon and suspension bridges and has won multiple awards for design excellence from representative groups such as the Association of Consulting Engineers of Ireland, the Irish Concrete Society, the Institution of Structural Engineers and Construction Employers Federation Northern Ireland.
