Fintan Buggy joined Roughan & O’Donovan in 2005. As senior geotechnical engineer, he is responsible for site investigations, geotechnical assessments and design studies.
An expert in ground improvement for road and railway infrastructure on soft ground, including peat stability assessments, Fintan led Roughan & O’Donovan’s design for the geotechnical aspects of the Limerick Southern Ring Road PPP, the M7/M8 PPP and the Northern Spire Bridge projects.
Prior to joining the company, he spent more than 25 years working in the UK and the US on a broad range of projects including commercial developments, pipelines, dams, bridges and major roads.
Fintan is the Irish representative on the ISSMGE TC202 Transportation Geotechnics and a member of the NSAI TC015 committee providing review and comment on revisions to Eurocodes and geotechnical standards. He is a past chairman of the Geotechnical Society of Ireland (2014-2016).
Fintan has published case history papers both in Ireland and internationally.
