Roughan & O’Donovan provided civil and structural engineering design services for a 45m x 55m high-bay extension to a high value storage facility.
The project consists of 2300m² of 10.5m high bay portal frame construction, fully braced in both directions.
The adoption of ‘jumper’ beams allowed for only four internal columns to the whole building, maximising flexibility in how the new extension space could be used.
Parts of the existing portal frame members were converted into trusses to resist snow drift loadings.
