Presented by Chris Jackson, BBC2's Sea City programme will give viewers an insight into the complex and challenging engineering processes involved in the design and construction of Sunderland's New Wear Crossing.

A film crew from the show spent several days on the site interviewing the team and capturing footage of key milestones in the project.

Highlights will include river pilot, Baber Abidi, successfully guiding a barge carrying the bridge’s 105m high steel A-frame pylon up the river, clearing the city’s existing historic bridges on the way.

In describing the programme, a BBC spokesperson said:

The city of Sunderland is changing and looking to a new future - this programme tells the stories of some of the people helping to bring about change and others working to keep traditions alive.

Watch it live at 8.00 p.m. on Thursday, February 15th or set your TV to record. It is sure to be a great show!
