At 8.00 p.m. on Thursday, February 15th, Sunderland’s Northern Spire Bridge will play a starring role in the BBC2 series, Sea Cities.

A film crew from the show spent several days on the construction site interviewing the team and capturing footage of key milestones in the project.

Highlights will include river pilot, Baber Abidi, successfully guiding a barge carrying the bridge’s 105m high steel A-frame pylon up the river, clearing the city’s existing historic bridges on the way.

In describing Roughan & O’Donovan’s role in what is one of England’s biggest civil engineering projects in recent years, Director, Tony Dempsey, said:

Together with our joint venture partner Buro Happold Engineering, we are providing consultancy services - from tender through to completion of construction - for the permanent works structures on this large-scale design and build scheme.

Watch it live at 8.00 p.m. on Thursday, February 15th or set your TV to record. It is sure to be a great show!
