Who we are
Roughan and O’Donovan (ROD) is a leading civil, environmental and structural engineering consultancy.
An independently owned firm, we employ a multidisciplinary team of over 200 people in our Dublin and Leeds offices.
We use the latest technologies and techniques to reduce material consumption and embedded carbon, increase flexibility of use and extend the lifespan of our solutions.
By making pragmatic design choices that minimise construction and whole-life maintenance costs, we create real and lasting value for our clients.
Our company directors are actively involved in our projects, working closely with project engineers and project technicians on all aspects of project delivery.
Our best for project ethos enables us to make the right decisions for clients and ensures high quality deliverables are achieved.
Building strong working relationships with clients, local authorities, contractors and architects is central to how we do business.
Partnerships and accreditations
Our quality assurance system ensures delivery of high quality, value engineered designs that meet clients’ requirements in a fully auditable and managed manner.
Our system integrates:

- ISO 45001:2018 Occupational Health & Safety Management
BIM (Building Information Modelling)
Our BIM processes are certified by the British Standards Institution (BSI) and apply across our full range of engineering services. This provides reassurance to clients and project partners that we have the systems and capabilities in place to manage information effectively.
We combine our standardised BIM processes with our ISO 9001 quality management system.
Continuing Professional Development (CPD)
ROD's status as an Engineers Ireland Continuing Professional Development (CPD) Accredited Employer was extended for the maximum reaccreditation period of three years.
ROD gained approval from the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE) to operate an ICE training scheme. The scheme will enable us to support our technicians and engineers though their initial professional development and on to a professional qualification: incorporated or chartered engineer status, IEng or CEng MICE.
