Summary

Roughan & O'Donovan (ROD) provided civil and structural engineering design and construction supervision services for this 10-unit development, delivered as an extension to the existing Gleann Na Glaise estate in the village of Ballyroan, Co. Laois.

The design team included OBFA Architects and Varming Consulting Engineers (M&E). The main contractor was Breencore LTD.

Solution

The scheme comprises 10 two-storey, three-bedroom, residential dwellings delivered as five sets of semi-detached houses in a long, unbroken spine.

Works included all estate pavements, boundary treatment works and associated site works.

Careful consideration was given to minimising the impact of construction on the existing road network, with off-road parking provided for each unit.

The project team incorporated several sustainable urban drainage (SuDS) systems measures in the design, including off-road parking on permeable paving slabs and green areas to the front and rear of each dwelling.

Services provided:

  • Civil and structural engineering design
  • Traffic and transport assessments
  • Flood risk studies
  • Sustainable urban drainage systems (SuDS)
  • Building design
