Summary
ROD provided civil and structural engineering design and construction supervision services for this seven-unit development, on a greenfield site, at Mooreville, Rathdowney, Co. Laois.
The design team included OBFA Architects and Varming Consulting Engineers (M&E). Campion Construction was the main contractor.
Construction began onsite in March 2023 and was completed in January 2025.
Solution
The scheme comprises two-storey, mid-terrace units, and individual units (one on the ground floor and one on the first floor) at either end of the terrace. External staircases provide access to the first-floor units.
Off-road parking is provided to the front and rear of the units, where new road infrastructure has been put in place, and off the Mooreville Estate.
Several sustainable urban drainage systems (SuDS) measures were incorporated in the design, including green areas designed for biodiversity and surface water management and a soakaway to allow surface water to infiltrate the ground on site, rather than being fed into the existing network.
