About the role

You will be part of the site-based team responsible for the supervision of the construction of a new 2.2km urban dual carriageway road on the outskirts of north Limerick City. 

The route comprises approximately 2.2km of urban dual carriageway road with footway and cycleways, 0.6km of new urban single carriageway road with footways and cycleways, and 2.0km of major improvements to an existing urban single carriageway road with footways and cycleways.  It also includes the construction of one concrete overbridge over the existing Limerick to Galway railway line.

You will report directly to the project resident engineer.

Essential

  • A degree in engineering (Level 8 qualification in the National Framework of Qualifications or equivalent)
  • At least five years’ postgraduate experience as resident engineer on:
    • road projects, including at least one with a construction value in excess of €15.0 million (exclusive of VAT)
    • bridge projects, including at least one individual bridge structure with a construction value in excess of €0.5 million (exclusive of VAT)
  • Experience in administering the public works forms of contract
  • Experience in implementing procedures and systems for accurate record-keeping
  • Knowledge and awareness of health and safety legislation
  • Good organisational skills
  • Motivated individual with a strong work ethic
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Fluency/high level of proficiency in spoken and written English

Desirable

  • Competency in the use of Microsoft Suite and AutoCAD
  • Competency in reading and understanding plans and specifications
  • Chartered engineer status (CEng MIEI or equivalent)
