About the role
ROD is focused on the delivery of large-scale public infrastructure projects, and we are excited to be expanding our energy team to capitalise on the Government’s commitment to the expansion and renewal of the energy grid.
Reporting to our senior electrical engineer, you will be supporting the delivery of our increasing number of energy projects, which currently include:
- electrification of Cork Area Commuter Rail Network, with associated grid extensions and substations
- various grid connections for private energy developers
- HV cable diversions to support transportation infrastructure
- planning applications for new ESB substations
You will be required to have ample knowledge of power generation, power system planning, power system protection and power system transmission and distribution.
Essential
- A bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering (Level 8 in the National Framework of Qualifications or equivalent)
- At least two years’ post-qualification experience in the design or construction of energy projects, such as wind and solar farms, high voltage substations and/or HV cable systems
- Good knowledge of EirGrid and ESB standards
- Good knowledge of the design and construction of energy projects
- Experience in preparing reports
- Experience in implementing quality procedures and records
- Proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook)
- Fluency/high level of proficiency in spoken and written English
- Ability to work in a team environment
- Motivated individual with a strong work ethic
Desirable
- A master’s degree in electrical engineering (Level 9 in the National Framework of Qualifications or equivalent)
- Specialisation in power or HV engineering
- Competency in AutoCAD
- Knowledge of substation primary or secondary designs and working knowledge of substation design software
- Experience in HV cable design
- Experience in wind or solar farm design or construction
